The KCD1 2-Pin ON/OFF Rocker Switch is a compact power control switch designed for switching electrical and electronic circuits on and off. With its 15x21mm rectangular design, snap-in mounting mechanism and durable insulated housing, it provides a convenient switching solution for DIY electronics, control panels, small appliances and equipment repairs.
Available in Red and Black, this rocker switch features clearly marked ON (I) and OFF (O) positions, allowing users to identify the switch state easily.
Its two-terminal SPST configuration provides simple circuit control, while the maintained rocker mechanism keeps the switch in its selected position until manually changed.
Key Features
- 2-Pin SPST Switching: Opens or closes a single electrical circuit using two terminals.
- 2-Position ON/OFF: Maintained switching mechanism stays in the selected position.
- 15x21mm Compact Design: Small rectangular format suitable for electronic equipment and custom project enclosures.
- Snap-In Panel Mounting: Integrated retaining clips secure the switch in a properly sized rectangular panel opening.
- Copper Terminals: Two metal connection terminals suitable for compatible push-on connectors or soldered wiring.
- Clear I/O Markings: Easy identification of ON and OFF positions.
- Non-Illuminated Design: Simple mechanical switching without an integrated indicator lamp.
- Two Colour Options: Available with red or black rocker actuators.

Applications
1. DIY Electronics Projects
Use the switch to provide convenient manual ON/OFF control for custom electronic circuits, power supply boxes and prototype equipment.
2. Arduino and Microcontroller Projects
Install the KCD1 as an external power switch for a suitable Arduino-based system. It can be used to interrupt the power supply circuit rather than relying on disconnecting wires whenever the project is not in use.
For microcontroller development, explore the Arduino Uno R3 Board with USB Cable available at DIYGH.
3. Battery-Powered Devices
Add a manual power control switch to portable electronics, battery-powered equipment and small DIY devices.
For rechargeable battery projects, the 1-Slot 18650 Battery Holder Case provides a convenient way to install a compatible 18650 battery.
4. Equipment Repairs
Replace damaged ON/OFF switches in compatible small appliances, electronic instruments, power supply units and other equipment requiring a compact two-terminal rocker switch.
5. LED and Lighting Projects
Provide manual switching for suitable low-voltage LED lighting circuits, decorative lighting and electronic display systems.
6. Control Panels and Project Enclosures
The snap-in mounting design is suitable for equipment panels and custom project boxes where a compact, accessible power switch is needed.
How the KCD1 Rocker Switch Works
The KCD1 uses a simple Single Pole Single Throw (SPST) switching mechanism.
- ON (I): The two terminals are electrically connected, allowing current to flow through the circuit.
- OFF (O): The electrical connection is opened, interrupting current flow.
Unlike a momentary push button, the rocker switch remains in its selected position.
For circuits that require switching between two signal paths rather than simply turning power on and off, DIYGH also stocks the SS12D00G4 Mini 3-Pin SPDT Slide Switch.
Installation and Wiring
- Prepare a suitable rectangular opening in the equipment panel.
- Insert the rocker switch into the opening until its retaining clips engage.
- Identify the two connection terminals.
- Connect the switch in series with the supply conductor or circuit being controlled.
- Use properly insulated connections and suitable wire sizes.
- Test the switching operation before putting the equipment into service.
For checking contact continuity and testing circuit connections, use a suitable instrument such as the ANENG XL830L Digital Multimeter.
Safety Information
- Disconnect the power supply before installing or replacing the switch.
- Use the switch only within its verified voltage and current ratings.
- For mains-powered equipment, installation should be performed by a qualified person using appropriate insulation and protection.
- The switch provides basic ON/OFF control and does not replace a fuse, circuit breaker or other protective device.
Available Variations
Red: Red rocker actuator with black housing and white ON/OFF markings.
Black: Black rocker actuator with black housing and white ON/OFF markings.
Both variations feature the same 2-pin ON/OFF switching configuration.
