The PAM8403 5V 2×3W Stereo Class-D Audio Amplifier Module is a compact and highly efficient audio amplifier designed for small stereo speakers, portable audio systems and DIY electronics projects. It provides separate left and right audio channels and can deliver up to 3W per channel when operated from a 5V supply with suitable 4Ω speakers.
The module uses the PAM8403 Class-D amplifier IC, offering high efficiency with low heat generation. This makes it suitable for battery-powered and USB-powered projects where compact size and low power consumption are important. Under normal operating conditions, no external heatsink is required.
It accepts a standard analogue stereo audio input, making it suitable for use with Bluetooth audio receivers, MP3 modules, FM radio modules, computers, phones and other analogue audio sources.
This version does not include an onboard volume-control potentiometer. Volume can therefore be controlled from the connected audio source or by adding an external stereo potentiometer.
The amplifier uses a bridge-tied load (BTL) output configuration, meaning each speaker must be connected directly across its corresponding positive and negative output terminals. The speaker negative outputs must not be connected to ground or joined together.
The PAM8403 is a practical choice for students, makers and hobbyists building compact audio systems, talking projects, alarm systems, portable speakers and embedded sound applications.
